At Rocky Mountain Builders, we believe that exceptional craftsmanship starts with an
exceptional team. Founded on a legacy of quality and precision, our team of dedicated builders, project managers, and craftsmen work together to bring your vision to life. We take pride in our hands-on approach, ensuring that every detail reflects our commitment to excellence. With decades of experience in custom homes and commercial construction, RMB stands as a trusted name in the Flathead Valley.
Born and raised in Sacramento, California, Paul moved to Montana in 1996, immersing himself in the world of construction. With over 25 years of experience, he has worked on everything from custom homes to large-scale commercial projects. His career has spanned roles as a superintendent, project foreman, and lead carpenter before transitioning into project management and ownership of RMB.
Paul is known for his keen design sense, meticulous attention to detail, and ability to help clients bring their vision to life. Whether on-site or in the office, Paul remains deeply involved in every project, ensuring quality and craftsmanship at every turn. He’s also recognized for his frequent and transparent communication with homeowners—keeping clients informed, confident, and connected throughout the entire process.
With over 45 years in the construction industry, Joe Hill built Rocky Mountain Builders on a foundation of integrity, expertise, and hands-on craftsmanship. His experience spans residential, high-end custom homes, and complex commercial projects, including high-rises, schools, casinos, and federal structures.
While Joe has stepped into retirement, his influence and leadership remain woven into the fabric of RMB’s legacy.
Behind the scenes at Rocky Mountain Builders, Jonene Bernhardt ensures everything runs as smoothly on paper as it does on the job site. As the owner of Bernhardt Business Services, Jonene brings a wealth of expertise and precision to her role—overseeing all aspects of RMB’s bookkeeping and administrative operations with care and consistency.
From licensing and contracts to billing, payroll, and financial oversight, Jonene manages the intricate details that keep projects moving forward. Her sharp organizational mind and deep understanding of construction business operations allow the field team to stay focused on what they do best—building.
Jonene’s work might not happen on the job site, but the systems she supports are foundational to RMB’s ability to deliver excellence at every level.
At RMB, our leadership isn’t confined to an office—we believe in being on-site, ensuring that every project meets our exacting standards. Paul and the team take an active role in supervising construction, problem-solving, and bringing each client’s dream to reality. This hands-on approach is what sets RMB apart, ensuring that quality, efficiency, and artistry remain at the heart of everything we build.
Rocky Mountain Builders specializes in building legacy homes but is rooted in a legacy of its own. Paul Joe Hill II started RMB in 1997 in the Flathead Valley after relocating from Northern California. Starting out as a master union carpenter building homes, bridges, and skyscrapers, Joe took these talents and blossomed into one of the best custom home builders this valley has ever seen. Along the way he taught his son, Paul Joe Hill III the skills that would eventually lead him to start his own company and work alongside his father as a subcontractor. After many years the father-son duo decided to join forces to further the legacy of Rocky Mountain Builders. Since 2013 father and son have been at the helm of general contracting many high-end luxury homes as well as many commercial structures in the Flathead Valley. In 2023 Joe retired and passed the torch to his son as the sole owner of RMB. Paul will continue to fine-tune the legacy placed before him with the same excellence as his father did.
